About NAT

New Artist Theater is a division of The AMF Studio dedicated to showcasing new, untested, unseen work by local artists. We feel it is incredibly important for all artists to have a platform to share their work with family, friends and maybe even an adoring public.  NAT is known for it's seasonal "Starving Artist Series", which is a program of mini-seasons of new work by new talent.  The talented staff at NAT offers classes for students from 7-18, as well as adults in various aspects of theater.  NAT wants nothing more than to help support Long Islands Artistic community.  But of course, we can't do that without your help. We look forward to hearing from you.

Meet Our Executive Staff

Jason Forella (Program Director) is a veteran of the Long Island theater community.  He has appeared on stages all across Long Island and New York City, as well as several regional tours.  Currently he runs the classes and workshops for NAT; here he teaches and directs some of the most talented and inspiring young performers on the island.  He has been teaching children for almost two decades in various fields of interest including, but not limited too acting and musical theater, rock climbing, team building and confidence workshops, set design and construction, light design and operation, martial arts, science and mathematics workshops, CPR, first aid, and cooking classes.  Jason likes apple pie and chocolate milk.

Edward Cress (Creative Director) has been pursuing theatre in one way or another since his elementary school years.  He has appeared in several Long Island theater productions, as well as a few college productions at SUNY Purchase where he received a BA in drama studies.  He has been directing adults and children alike for many years, and has had the opportunity to work as program director for youth theater organizations like Farmingdale Theater Arts.  In addition, he has been working as a preschool teacher for seven years, specializing in shadowing special needs children.  He is certified in pediatric CPR and first aid.  Currently he is putting his skills to use rallying youth casts and adult casts to create new and engaging theater.  But most importantly, Ed will eat anything if you wrap it in bacon.
